This map could be used for any campaign taking place in the Shadowfell or for a horror-based one shot. In my 5e campaign the Shadowfell is encroaching on the material plane and the party must go to a farmhouse to rescue the farmer barricaded within the house (the farmer grows a plant they need). There are large fires lit around the farmhouse presumably to keep monsters at bay, like the scarecrows haunting the nearby fields. There's also a large nest on top of the windmill, home to whatever ambushed the nearby carriage (remains of one of the horses are near the windmill) as well as plenty of plants and trees, any of which could be animated and deadly. If the party makes it to the farmhouse, they will find a doppelganger who is impersonating the farmer. The real farmer is locked in the large chest inside the house that's wrapped in chains.
